EDI electrodemineralization systems EDI for the production of 16 MΩ-cm water

These systems are installed downstream of existing osmosis systems to increase the quality of the water, allowing to obtain very high purity water with a resistivity greater than 16 MΩ-cm and silica concentration lower than 5 ppb.

In terms of conductivity, this additional treatment system allows the transition from 2-5 µS (osmosis system outlet) to produce water with values lower than 0.1-0.09 µS.

The EDI system is replacing all traditional ion exchange resin systems. In EDI the cations and anions present in the water are exchanged on a resin with H + and OH- ions, producing demineralized water; the difference between this and the traditional method lies in the fact that the process is continuous, in that the resin is regenerated by means of semipermeable membranes by imposing a direct current electric field.
